As two popular technologies, air-cooled systems and liquid-cooled systems both have uniqueness for business usage. Whats the difference?



Air-cooled Battery System:

The principle of air cooling is to use natural wind or a hair dryer to cooperate with the evaporator to cool down the battery. Because of its simple structure and low cost, air-cooled batteries are favored by many users.

  • Air-cooled turbines utilize the kinetic energy of the air and convert it into electrical energy for direct usage or battery storage. Sufficient wind resources are required for optimal output.
  • While Air-cooled systems require high initial investments, they offer complete energy autonomy and significant cost savings in the long run. That's why they are still the first choice for many companies
  • Regular maintenance is essential to keep the equipment running properly.

 

Liquid-cooled Battery System:

Liquid cooling technology is more calm for the thermal management of the battery. The cooling liquid passes through the internal pipeline circuit of the battery to take away the heat generated when the battery is working. Under low temperature conditions, the system will also heat the battery pack.

  • Liquid-cooled batteries store energy directly in liquid electrolyte solutions contained in external pipelines.
  • Unlike Air-cooled systems, Liquid-cooled batteries are not dependent on weather conditions and have fewer siting constraints.
  • However, Liquid-cooled batteries are limited in terms of energy density per volume. Larger footprints are needed for higher capacity systems. They also require strictly controlled environments.
